1957 Elva MK IIB SOLD

This rare aluminum Elva MK IIB is one of  four MKIIB’s built by the Elva Engineering Company at the London Road, Bexhill, workshops during 1957.  It was originally owned and driven by Millard Ripley.  The car competed in the 1958 Sebring 12 Hours with William Milliken, Cameron Argetsinger, and Ripley behind the wheel. It was the highest finishing Elva in that race.

The car has spent most of its recent years in private collections having seen little track use which has protected the many original features. It was raced by UK guest driver Allan Miles at a Mid Ohio event in the mid 1980’s, and later appeared at the 35th ELVA anniversary meeting at Road Atlanta in 1990. Since 1990 in storage,

The motor most likely is fresh, compression even at 175. Starts up immediately and runs smooth without typical climax, chain and gear noise. No sign of leaks.  The doors operate perfectly and have the original latches.

Sometime during its early racing career , car had a narrow roll hoop, full width windscreen, tonneau cover with Dzus fasteners
